Boeo's Lanternfish [Symbolophorus boops]
Description
Boeo's Lanternfish, or Symbolophorus boops, is a species of lanternfish that inhabits the Atlantic Ocean. They typically dwell at depths between 200-1,000 meters during the day, and near the surface at night. Like other lanternfish, they use bioluminescence for communication and camouflage. Distinguished by its large eyes and slender body, Boeo's Lanternfish is typically silver-blue in color with a series of photophores along the abdomen.
