Blue Ribbon Eel [Rhinomuraena amboinensis]
Description
Blue Ribbon Eels are hermaphroditic eels found in the Indo-Pacific Ocean, particularly in lagoons and seaward reefs. Adults are predominantly blue with a yellow dorsal fin, while juveniles and females are black or blue. They are typically seen with only their head protruding from holes in the reef. They primarily feed on small fish and have a unique high dorsal fin on their head.
