The Blue Petrel (Halobaena caerulea) is a small seabird that inhabits the Southern Ocean. It is the only member of the genus Halobaena, but is closely related to the prions. The species is highly pelagic, spending their time in the open ocean except for when they are breeding. They are monogamous and form long-term pair bonds. The species is distinguished by its dark blue-grey upperparts and white underparts. It has a blue bill and blue feet.
