Black Turnstone [Arenaria melanocephala]
Description
The Black Turnstone is a medium-sized shorebird with a black and white plumage, a short, dark bill and orange legs. It breeds in Alaska and winters along the Pacific Coast, from California to British Columbia. It can be found flipping over rocks, seaweed, and other beach debris to find food, much like its Ruddy cousin.
