Black Seadevil [Halieutopsis ocellata]
Description
The Black Seadevil is a deep-sea anglerfish, distinguished by its dark color and the luminescent lure that it uses to attract prey in the dark, deep-sea environment where it lives. It has a wide mouth filled with sharp teeth. Like other anglerfish, it has a modified dorsal fin that forms a 'fishing rod' tipped with a lure or 'bait'.
