Black Ribbonfish [Plectrogenium melanoleucum]

Description
Plectrogenium melanoleucum, or the Black Ribbonfish, is a deep-sea marine species found in the Atlantic Ocean. It lives in the bathypelagic zone, often dwelling near the ocean floor. Distinguished by its dark coloration and long, ribbon-like body, this species has a delicate dorsal fin that runs along the length of its body. Like its close relatives, it is bioluminescent and uses this ability for defense and prey attraction. It feeds primarily on small invertebrates.
