Description
The Black-axil Chromis or Sceptrella axillaris is a species of damselfish endemic to the western Pacific Ocean. It is a popular species among aquarists due to its striking appearance and hardy nature. Its body is a shimmering blue-green, with a dark black patch located under the pectoral fin (hence its name). They are typically found in large schools around coral reefs, feeding on zooplankton. The species is known for its aggressive defense of its territory, particularly during breeding season.
