Description
The Banded Fan Worm is a type of marine bristle worm that belongs to the family Nereididae. It is characterized by a cylindrical body, usually banded in alternating colors of brown and white. It has a pair of branched gills and large, fan-like tentacles on the head which it uses for filter feeding. It inhabits marine environments, particularly in sandy or muddy substrates, and can be found in both shallow and deep waters. It is nocturnal, hiding during the day and emerging at night to feed on detritus, plankton, and small organisms.
