Description

The Australasian Bittern, also known as the brown bittern, is a large bird in the heron family. It primarily lives in the wetlands of Australia and New Zealand. Like other bitterns, the Australasian Bittern is secretive and well camouflaged with a plumage of brown, beige, and black. Its diet consists of fish, amphibians, insects, and small mammals.
