Atlantic Flying Gurnard [Dactylopterus volitans]
Description
The Atlantic Flying Gurnard is a marine species that inhabits the Eastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea. They prefer sandy or muddy seabeds, often around 100 to 300 meters deep. This species is known for their large, wing-like pectoral fins, which they spread when threatened. They use their pelvic fins to walk along the bottom of the ocean while looking for crustaceans, mollusks, and small fishes. The Atlantic Flying Gurnard can reach up to 50 cm in length.
