Alpheid Shrimp [Promyllantor atlanticus]
Description
Promyllantor atlanticus, commonly known as the Atlantic Alpheid Shrimp, is a species of marine crustacean found in the Atlantic Ocean. It is characterized by its small size, typically up to 2 cm in length, and its distinct reddish-brown color. It is known to inhabit sandy and muddy substrates in shallow waters, often in association with gobiid fishes. It exhibits a symbiotic relationship with these fishes, where the shrimp digs and maintains a burrow which is shared with the fish, while the fish provides protection against predators.
