Description

The Killdeer is a large plover found in the Americas. It is known for its 'broken wing' act to distract predators from its nest. It has two black neckbands and a white forehead. Killdeers feed on invertebrates, small fish, and berries. The bird is named after its loud 'kill-deer' call.
