Description

The Bigeye Batfish, or Dolopichthys dinema, is a species of batfish in the Ogcocephalidae family. It is primarily found in the western parts of the Atlantic Ocean, particularly in the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. The Bigeye Batfish is characterized by its large eyes and the absence of a rostrum. It also has a deep body and a fan-like pectoral fin. As a benthic species, it's usually found at depths between 183 and 914 meters. The Bigeye Batfish feeds on small invertebrates and uses its pectoral fins to 'walk' along the seabed.
