White Mullet [Mugil curema]

Description

The White Mullet is found in the Western Atlantic from Massachusetts to Brazil, including the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean. It inhabits coastal waters, estuaries, and rivers, and is tolerant of a wide range of salinities. It is characterized by a silvery body with a bluish-grey back. It feeds on detritus, small invertebrates, and plankton. It is known for its pale or 'white' appearance, hence its common name.
