Deepsea Triplophos [Triplophos hemingi]
Description
The deepsea Triplophos, or Triplophos hemingi, is a species in the family Phosichthyidae that resides in subtropical waters. It is deep-sea dwelling, usually found between 500 to 1000 meters depth. They are characterized by a long, slender body with a bioluminescent organ on their underside, which aids in counter-illumination to avoid predators.
