Conger Eel [Xenomystax congroides]

Description

This species is found in the Western Atlantic: Bahamas and northern Gulf of Mexico to Brazil. It inhabits the outer continental shelf and upper slope, at depths ranging from 183 - 820 meters. It is distinguished by its elongated body and reduced eyes. It is primarily nocturnal and feeds on other small fish and invertebrates.
