Four-spined lanternshark [Etmopterus quadrispinosus]

Description
The four-spined lanternshark is a shark of the family Etmopteridae found in the western central Atlantic between latitudes 18° N and 16° N, at depths between 200 and 500 m. Its length is up to 45 cm. It has four prominent spines on its dorsal fins and a unique pattern of photophores, which are light-emitting organs. It is a deep-water species and not much is known about its behavior.
