Description
The Slender hopper, or Ectinosomella elongata, is a marine copepod that inhabits the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. This species is known for its slender and elongated body shape, hence its name. The females, usually larger than the males, can reach lengths of up to 0.7 mm. They inhabit the benthic zone, primarily in coastal and estuarine areas. Their behavior includes hopping on the sediment surface, which gives them their common name. They are characterized by their elongated furcal rami and the lack of spines on their body.
