Broad Clawed Porcelain Crab [Praunus flexuosus]

Description
A small, robust crab species that grows up to 15 mm across. Praunus flexuosus is characterized by its broad, flattened claws and a body that ranges in color from brown to reddish-brown. This species is found in the north-east Atlantic, from Norway to Portugal and the Mediterranean Sea, inhabiting rocky or gravelly substrates in both intertidal and subtidal zones. It is known for its unique behavior of filter feeding by using its specialized setae on its maxillipeds.
