Caribbean Sand Crab [Phimochirus holthuisi]

Description
The Caribbean Sand Crab is a diminutive species that reaches about 2 cm in length. They are characterized by their whitish to light brown color and their flattened, oval body. These crabs inhabit sandy beaches and intertidal zones along the Caribbean Sea. They are detritus feeders, consuming organic matter from the sand in which they burrow.
