Florida Mantis Shrimp [Meiosquilla mercenaria]

Description
This species is prevalent in the western Atlantic Ocean, from the Gulf of Mexico to Brazil. They are found in sandy or muddy bottoms, usually in shallow waters. They are known for their burrowing behavior. The species is recognized by its yellowish-brown body with a shield-shaped carapace and a pair of large, club-like second pereiopods.
