Description

Cirratulus cirratus, commonly known as the Red Cirratulid Worm, is a marine polychaete species found in the North Atlantic Ocean. This species is characterized by its red or reddish-brown color and its elongated, segmented body, which can reach lengths of up to 150mm. It has numerous hair-like structures, or cirri, along its body, which it uses for locomotion and sensation. The Red Cirratulid Worm prefers habitats with muddy substrates, where it burrows and sifts through the sediment to feed on detritus and small organisms.
