Ocellated Lucine [Loripes lucinalis]

Description
The Ocellated Lucine, or Loripes lucinalis, is a small bivalve mollusk with a shell measuring up to 2 cm in length. The shell is white or cream-colored, often with brown or yellowish radial lines. They inhabit subtidal sandy or muddy substrates, from shallow coastal waters to depths of 100 meters. They are filter feeders, ingesting sediment and filtering out organic matter and symbiotic bacteria.
