Orbiculate lucine [Codakia orbicularis]

Description
The Orbiculate lucine is a marine bivalve mollusc also belonging to the family Lucinidae. It is distributed widely in the tropical Western Atlantic, from Florida to Brazil, and is also found in the Eastern Atlantic. Its shell is round and flat, with a color that varies from white to yellow or brown. It inhabits sandy or muddy bottoms in shallow seagrass beds and has a similar symbiotic relationship with bacteria as its relative, the Tiger lucine.
