Grooved Carpet Shell [Tapes decussatus]
Description
A marine bivalve mollusc in the family Veneridae. It is native to the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic coast of Western Europe. It has a robust, oval shell with a sculptured, radiating pattern on its surface. It is a filter feeder and lives buried in the sediment on the seabed.
