Description
The Spiny Scallop, also known as the Spiny Pink Scallop, is a species of deep-sea scallop. They are characterized by their bright pink or red shells with sharp, protruding scales. They inhabit the Pacific Ocean, ranging from the Gulf of Alaska to Baja California. They are found in rocky substrates and can live at depths of up to 100 meters. They are filter feeders, feeding on plankton and other small organisms.
