Description
The Eastern Mud Borer, or Noetia ponderosa, is a species of bivalve in the family Lucinidae. It is native to the Eastern United States, particularly the Gulf of Mexico. It can be found in brackish waters in muddy or sandy substrates. This species is characterized by its thick, heavy shell, which is typically brownish in color with a white interior. It has a very distinctive, elongated shape, hence the common name 'Mud Borer'.
