Description
The Senegal blood cockle is a species of ark clam that is native to the tropical West Atlantic, from Senegal to Angola. This species prefers muddy sand and muddy habitats in shallow waters, typically found at depths of up to 10 meters. The Senegal blood cockle is known for its rounded, heart-shaped shell, which has a sculpture of strong, concentric ridges.
