Roosterfish [Nematistius pectoralis]

Description
The Roosterfish has an elongated body, compressed laterally and has a concave head profile. It has two dorsal fins, the first is composed of seven spines and the second of a single spine followed by 24 to 27 soft rays. It has a large deeply forked caudal fin. This species grows up to 1.5 meters in length and can weigh up to 50 kilograms. The Roosterfish is found in the Eastern Pacific from Baja California to Peru. The Roosterfish is a prized game fish well known for its fighting ability and is targeted by surf anglers in particular.
