Ryukyu Hydra [Microhydra ryukyuensis]

Description
Microhydra ryukyuensis, also known as the Ryukyu Hydra, is a species of freshwater hydra found in the Ryukyu Islands of Japan. This species is small, measuring less than 10mm in length. It inhabits freshwater environments such as ponds, rivers, and streams. The Ryukyu Hydra feeds on small aquatic invertebrates which it captures with its stinging tentacles. Like other hydras, this species has the ability to regenerate lost body parts, making it a subject of interest in biological research.
