Description

Sea gooseberry is a small, spherical ctenophore. It has a transparent, gelatinous body that can reach up to 3 cm in diameter. It has two long tentacles which it uses to capture prey. This species is bioluminescent and can emit a faint blue or green light. It is found in cold and temperate seas worldwide. Sea gooseberry mainly feeds on small planktonic animals.
