Lesser Knob Coral [Cyphastrea microphthalma]

Lesser Knob Coral
Description

Divers often spot this coral as small, knobby mounds with a tight, bumpy surface. Depending on the light and water clarity, the polyps can look subtly patterned, giving the colony a textured, “grainy” look. It’s a great species to slow down for—up close, the fine details of the colony become much more obvious.
