Acanthastrea brevis [Acanthastrea brevis]

Description

Divers may find this coral as a low, sturdy colony with short, thick-looking corallites that form a textured mound. The surface can appear more “chunky” than some other starry-cup relatives, with the cups blending into a compact reef feature. Look closely for the subtle color differences between the corallite centers and the surrounding tissue.
