Description

Oceanites encompasses a genus of storm petrels, including the widely distributed Wilson's Storm Petrel. These birds are characterized by their small size, dark coloration with distinctive white rump patches, and long legs that extend past their tail in flight. Oceanites species are known for their incredible migratory behavior, covering thousands of kilometers between breeding sites in the southern hemisphere and feeding grounds in the northern hemisphere's oceans. They primarily feed on planktonic crustaceans and small fish, captured by surface pattering and dipping.
