Description

Galeocerdo is represented by the singular species Galeocerdo cuvier, commonly known as the tiger shark. This genus is distinguished by its large size, unique pattern of dark stripes and spots reminiscent of a tiger's coat, and a broad, wedge-shaped snout. Tiger sharks are solitary, nocturnal hunters that have a diverse diet, consuming a wide range of prey from fish and seals to birds and even other sharks.
