Description

Zearaja is a genus of skates found in the southern hemisphere, particularly in the southwestern Pacific Ocean around New Zealand and Australia. These skates are known for their robust body, large size, and the distinct star-like patterns often found on their dorsal surface. They inhabit a variety of marine environments, from coastal shallows to deeper offshore waters. Zearaja skates are benthic predators, feeding on a wide array of bottom-dwelling invertebrates and fish.
