Solasteractis [Solasteractis]

Description

Solasteractis is a lesser-known genus within the Cerianthidae family, distinguished by its members' unique adaptation to their deep-sea environments. These anemones create a tube from secretions and sediment, which provides protection and a base from which to feed. Characterized by a small number of elongated tentacles, they are adapted to capturing the sparse prey available in the deep sea. Their presence indicates the diversity of life forms adapted to extreme marine environments.
