Sawtooth Eels [Saurenchelys]

Description

Saurenchelys includes species commonly referred to as sawtooth eels, named after the serrated appearance of their lateral line on the body. These eels have elongated, slender bodies and are distinguished by their unique dorsal fin placement, which starts from the head and runs along the back. Sawtooth eels inhabit deep waters and are rarely seen by humans. They are presumed to feed on small fishes and cephalopods.
