Purple Sea Rods [Pseudopterogorgia]
Description
Pseudopterogorgia is a genus of soft corals in the family Gorgoniidae, known as purple sea rods. These corals are characterized by their elongated, rod-like branches that can be either straight or slightly curved. The color of these corals can range from shades of purple to yellow or brown. Pseudopterogorgia species are found in tropical and subtropical oceans, usually in reef environments where they are anchored to solid substrates. They feed on microscopic plankton, which they catch with their small polyps.
