Leaf Jellyfish [Leptobrachia]
Description
Leptobrachia is a lesser-known genus within the family Catostylidae, characterized by its small size and delicate structure. The jellyfish in this genus possess a slender, leaf-like bell that is nearly transparent, making them difficult to spot in their natural habitat. They have a simple body plan with few, if any, tentacles and are primarily pelagic, spending their lives in the open ocean. Leptobrachia jellyfish are found in deep waters worldwide, from tropical to temperate zones. They feed on tiny marine organisms and serve as prey for a variety of larger marine predators.
