Hammer Oysters [Malleus]

Description
Malleus, commonly referred to as Hammer Oysters, encompasses a group of marine bivalves with a unique hammer-like shape of the shell, from which their common name is derived. These oysters can be found in shallow tropical and subtropical seas, often attached to hard substrates. The distinctive shape of their shells, with elongated and often curved edges, sets them apart from other oyster families. Hammer Oysters are also known for their nacre, or mother-of-pearl, which is highly valued for jewelry and decoration.
