Goniopora [Goniopora]
Description
Goniopora is a genus of reef-building stony corals that belong to the family Poritidae. These corals are widely distributed across the Indo-Pacific region and are easily recognizable by their long, slender polyps which extend well beyond the skeleton. Goniopora species display a range of colors and can form either massive or columnar colonies. They are often referred to as flowerpot corals due to the appearance of their polyps, which resemble a bouquet of flowers.
