Description

Gnathophis, commonly known as the garden eels, are slender, small-scaled eels that live in colonies, burrowing tail-first into the sea floor. They are found in tropical and subtropical oceans worldwide. Their diet consists mainly of plankton, which they catch with their open mouths while partially buried.
