Giant Petrels [Macronectes]
Description
Macronectes genus comprises large seabirds known as the giant petrels. These birds are characterized by their robust bodies, large wingspans, and the ability to travel long distances over the ocean. They have a distinctive feature where the tip of their bill is hooked with tubular nostrils on top, which is common among the Procellariidae. Giant petrels are scavengers and predators, feeding on carrion, squid, fish, and even preying on other seabirds.
