Exosphaeroma [Exosphaeroma]
Description
Exosphaeroma includes isopods that are distinguished by their highly flexible, often somewhat flattened bodies, allowing them to squeeze into tight spaces within marine habitats. These creatures are versatile inhabitants of estuarine and coastal environments, where they can be found under rocks, among seaweeds, and inside decaying wood. Exosphaeroma species are important decomposers, feeding on dead plant and animal matter.
