Cyclozoanthus [Cyclozoanthus]
Description
Cyclozoanthus is another genus within the family Abyssoanthidae, distinguished by its unique polyp structure and growth form. These corals are also deep-sea dwellers, residing in environments with very low light levels. Cyclozoanthus species are noted for their encrusting habit, where they form circular colonies that spread over rocks and other hard substrates. Their polyps are interconnected by a thin layer of coenenchyme, and they utilize their tentacles to capture food particles from the surrounding water.
