Common Sawsharks [Pristiophorus]
Description
Pristiophorus is a genus of sawsharks which are characterized by their long, narrow, flattened snouts edged with teeth, resembling a saw. These sharks use their snout to slash at their prey before consuming them. Common Sawsharks are found in various oceans around the world, often in deeper waters. They have a pair of long barbels about halfway along the snout, which they use to detect prey in the sediment on the ocean floor.
