Cnidopus [Cnidopus]
Description
Cnidopus is a lesser-known genus of sea anemones, characterized by their small to medium size and relatively simple structure. These anemones are primarily solitary and attach themselves to substrates in deeper waters than many of their relatives. They have a smooth, columnar body topped with a crown of tentacles that are used for capturing prey. Cnidopus species are adapted to a range of marine environments and can be found in both cold and temperate waters, often embedded within soft sedimentary or muddy substrates.
