Clavularia [Clavularia]

Description

Clavularia is a genus of soft corals in the family Clavulariidae, known for their small, encrusting colonies that spread over rocks and other substrates. They have distinctive polyps that extend from a common stolon, resembling tiny flowers or clavus (Latin for 'club'), which is where the genus gets its name. These polyps can retract completely into the stolon when disturbed. Clavularia species are found in various colors and are noted for their ability to thrive in a range of lighting conditions, making them popular in the aquarium trade. They are distributed widely across the Indo-Pacific region.
