Arctic Mud Shrimps [Leucon]
Description
Leucon is a genus of cumaceans that inhabit cold, Arctic waters, as well as other deep-sea environments globally. These small crustaceans are distinguished by their robust carapace, which often appears smooth and lacks the pronounced rostrum seen in some related genera. Leucon species are adapted to life in muddy substrates, where they play a role in the benthic food web, consuming organic particles and microorganisms.
